Well, ok, not my pants. My Prius.
But Prius didn’t rhyme, and something something OCD.
Anyway, there are ants in my car. So far, I’ve only found the little sons-of-a-bitches under my hood, and scurrying around hood/windshield/roof. None have made it inside, but I worry they’ll get there eventually. I guess I should have expected this at some point though since I live in Florida, and Florida is 85% ants by volume.
Anyone else ever have this happen, and if so, how did you exterminate the little communists? I’m pretty good at keeping my car clean; I wash pretty thoroughly every other week both the interior and exterior. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got them in my car when I lived in Florida. I exterminated them on a 10 hour road trip by individually smashing every single one as they crawled out of the shifter.
Not particularly efficient.
However, in my house I’ve had a lot of luck with plain old ant traps. Just make sure you aren’t replenishing the ant supply by parking on their house or something.

Damn Florida. Where all things that are decent go to die.
I don’t know where I could put the traps though since I haven’t spotted them in the vehicle yet. And I don’t particularly want to lure them in.....just in case.
I’ll try parking somewhere different, see if that doesn’t help too. Thanks!

One more horrid memory. I’m assuming they aren’t fire ants? I don’t know why, but some kinds of fire ants are attracted to some sort of rubber or latex coating so maybe that’s it. I had an infestation in a work backpack because they were after a pair of coated garden gloves. Ask me how painful that discovery was.

Deltamethrin.
(I’ve used this on the exterior of my Silverado. No lasting effects other than dead ants)

Hah. Just back from 2 weeks of vacation in FL and our minivan had ants appearing in it throughout our trip. The kids were terrified. I was not - they were tiny ants, really small... but they just kept appearing! Somebody must have parked the thing on a mega ant-hill. Thanks a lot, Hertz!
